Greetings! I've been cleaning windows since October 2010 and have fought to stay ahead of the game with my organization and be at the top of everyone's mind when it comes to window cleaning. However, it feels like an up-hill battle. Some window cleaners go after the cheapest rate, which there will be those. But it seems like they never go up in price. Like no one goes up in price. I try to be fair but realistic, up-selling is usually where we start to see the money.
My best clients are from out of state, they see my pricing and love it. While I have others that are from here, most gasp at the pricing and can't believe how high it is compared to what they pay. Many have the same cleaners for 10 years and charging the same price, yes mine is going to be higher. I offer a 3 year freeze on the price of our window cleaning if the customer books within a year. But at some point, insurance goes up, cost of business increases and I want to pay myself as well becomes more challenging. Is it me? I am always surprised when I score a big job. Many smaller jobs just don't seem to be worth it and I turn them over to someone else. Many cleaners in my area won't network, which in my opinion is a poor choice. The one I was able to network with, I was able to do high rise jobs without any equipment because I would hire him at an optimal rate and we made some good money. He has since moved to another area. It was a mutual respect, but with this industry, it just seems like sketchy and loaners, are taking the jobs then ultimately under-performing, leaving a sour taste in peoples mouths about price.
It's a lot of info, and I am looking forward to see what this group is all about.
