Negotiating the Deal for Newbies.

Negotiations are at the forefront of this business.. I am challenging the newcomers to learn the ins and outs of negotiating. If you are developing a successful window cleaning business I am guessing you have had a little experience at negotiating. My experience has led me to a few conclusions.

1) Have patience. Landing large accounts can take time. Sometimes it takes several years to land a really good account. But when you land that really good account you will feel a sense of accomplishment.

2) Be an expert in your field. Confidence in the quality of your service is of the utmost concern. You have to be completely versed in the window cleaning business to become an expert. This might take a few years.

3) Develop real consumer relationships. Join local networking groups if you have to. The chamber of commerce is a great place to start.

4) Don't be afraid to solicit new customers everyday. Get good at it and fast. Most of my business is built on solicitation. If you are nervous about walking into a business and soliciting your quality service you might want to find another line of work. 80% of my business comes from direct solicitation.

The point I'm trying to make for the newcomers to this business is to learn how to become your own salesperson. Become good at selling yourself and your service as top notch and hard to find. People will come out of the wood work to pay you for your services. Good luck guys...
