Wide Body Preference

The biggest channel that I use is the 18" stainless. Mainly because it's the sweet spot for size vs price (where the price is more expensive than the additional size of the channel). At 22" you take like a 13% hit on size vs price, at 24" you take like a 15% hit, at 36" you take like a 15% hit (using 18" as the baseline). At 30" you take a 23% hit.

However, it's only recently occurred to me (yes, I'm that slow) that by using a larger squeegee and only doing straight pulls on a pole, the rubber might easily outlast the potential size/price hit. It only occurred to me because I cut a channel to do lower windows on a series of chain restaurants and with just doing side pulls that rubber has lasted forever.

I'm curious if this is truly the case (ie you get longer life out of the long channels because you only use them for straight pulls) or if people just like the wide body because it's cool or if nobody ever cared enough to examine the price/size ratio.

It's my theory that doing the fanning is what really puts a lot of stress on the rubber and wears it out, but then again, I don't use anything bigger than 18.

I'm also curious which is the most popular size. I'm leaning towards the 22" or 36" because of the size/price ratio.
