Indoor Window Cleaning pads

I used the Unger Window Cleaning and Polishing pads to do a skylight from inside last week, and was relatively pleased with the result. I'm wondering if anyone else uses them on indoor residential jobs. If so, when do you use them and what have been the results. Are there any tips for making them more effective?

I sprayed some pure water from my WFP on the cleaning pad and used it first, having put it on the end of my Unger extension pole. The pad was black when I finished covering the skylight. I came back a few minutes later and it looked like there were smears all over the skylight. In fairness though, I don't know when the last time the skylight had been cleaned and it could have accumulated several years of dirt. I also might have used too much water on the pad. I put a light mist on the polishing pad and ran over it again. This pad also came back black, but it appeared to remove the smears from the first run and the window looked pretty good.
