I started doing this last year and thought I would share, it has really helped me save time. And my customers really like it.
I am sure other guys do something similar, but I haven't seen it posted here before. I have always hated carrying screens through the house. If I go in and remove them I have to make a pile inside and then make two or three trips up the steps with dirty screens. So now I go to the window, open it, take out the screen and put this little clamp on the top.
It is the perfect size for one screen. I hook it on and lower the screen down. When it gets to the ground I swing it a foot or to away from the house and bounce the string. The screen comes loose and rest standing up against the house. I wind the string up and clean the tracts, tilt the window, wipe the frame, clean the upper, tilt the window shut, clean the lower, close the window and move to the next one. While I walk to the next window I re-wind the string.
This is the key to the whole thing.
If you lay the clamp between your thumb and finger, and wrap an X pattern between your thumb and little finger, finish it off with just a few wraps around the body of the string.
When you lower the screen the line will feed itself out of the bundle without tangling. I put the loop around my finger so I don't drop the whole thing.
I bought the clamps for .90 each at Home Depot. This has worked great for me, now I collect screens in one trip around the house. Hope this helps someone.
