So I did this house last week. 93 windows in the richy rich side of town. Home is owned by a prestigious builder in the same area. Half the windows are fairly new Anderson double hungs. Half I swear are original storms from the 20's when this house was constructed. We clean the home with the exception of the insides of the old storms because they wouldn't itch out like some I've seen. The wife was ok so we did everything accessible and she said it was good and called it a day. One week passes and still no check (I usually receive payment when complete, but she asked if she could have hubby pay out of biz account). Yesterday we get a call from hubby saying we didn't clean all the windows and he wouldn't pay til we did them. I asked when we could come over and he said the fam is on vacation. He said we could access the in betweens from outside so I just said ok and figured I'd find out when I got there. On the job as I'm typing this and my ladder guy literally has to unscrew the entire window frame from the house, unseat it from the bottom, balance it down the ladder clean everything and put it back in place fearing the entire time we don't break anything. Anyone else do a job like this or have suggestions for the future? With a job like this, I'm almost at the point of requiring the home owner to have the storms out before we arrive to job and put back in place when we're done. Seems more like a construction job than window cleaning to me.
