Pole work and calcium build up

So I've been trying to get more and more pole work into my routines. I can see how handy being proficient with one would be. That said, I was cleaning some windows yesterday and noticed some calcium deposits left after a scrub and wipe that needed a buffing out- something I'd normally do with steel wool. I put my unger ninja scraper on the pole, but I didn't get the result I wanted, and still needed to get a ladder out to buff the stains out.

Is there a better way? Or, do all first cleans need ladder work all around?
