Marketing How Do You Train Your Salesman?

Reading a couple of threads, I got an idea of how some of you pay your salesmen.



But How do you train them?



Do you just send them out with some marketing material and say, "good luck buddy!"



Do you have them bidding the jobs, or just setting appointments for you as the owner to bid yourself?



What's the turnover rate for a salesman?



Where did you find yours? (I've heard Craigslist is a fantastic place to find hardworking, diligent, eager-to-work people.) ;)



Are they cold calling residential, or commercial/storefront routes?



leading into the commercial side of things, do you have them cold call over the phone, before in person?



And last, but not least, as far as commercial corporate; when/how do you fight your way up the "food chain" to get to the decision maker? And who do you ask to speak with, or do you find their email on some mysteriously hidden page on the corporate site?
