That Greatest Album thread has got me jones'in for some of the "classic" stuff. Then "Eye of the Tiger" came on the rock station today and as many times as I've heard it clipped in movies, it's been a long time since I listened to the whole thing. Makes me wonder how he came up with the lyrics:
Tigers are cool. Humm, it's the claw of the tiger... Eh. Oh yeah, it's the tooth of the tiger. That's the sweetness right there. Wait, what do you mean "eye"? Eyes don't do anything, I'm going with "tooth"...
Then I wondered about The Best All Around Opening/Solo in music. I immediately think of guitar openings and solos, but I wanted to leave it open for other instruments like the synth from "I'll Wait" on VH's 1984.
Oh, I don't think it matters if you like the song, but I think we can some up with a pretty good top 10 list, but ranking them is going to be hard.
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor since everyone uses the intro in movies, shows, or whatever where someone like Rocky is getting ready to do something awesome.
Money for Nothing by Dire Straights
Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple
Back in Black - AC/DC
Humm, I'll have to think of more later, there's new episodes of Top Gear on Netflix...
