At some point in our business, we had to make a decision to either better our business and dedicate ourselves, or work for beer money. This may sound weird for a newer business, but should be totally understood by a seasoned veteran. The idea of dedication is hard to fathom by one that is just getting by and not making the money they need to grow their business. Our experience has taught us to do whatever we can to give our client a great experience. Make them want to re hire your business, not look for another company and willing to pay a premium price for our services. This is also referred to as Customer Service.
An example of most cleaning businesses in our area are: Works as cheap as possible, does as many projects as possible and really doesn't give a crap about who they service. They usually don't have any insurance, or minimal insurance. They will undercut our business every time if possible. They complain about how their business sucks and bitch to everyone they talk to.
The differences between us and them: We charge top rate, no matter the situation. After all, we have the best equipment available and carry as much insurance as needed for what we do. Then some. We are only able to do so much work as we limit our employees for the work really needed. We had up to 12 employees at one time. That was Tegrey Family of Coatings Inc. babysitting service! I fired the worst six employees in one day and never looked back. We made ore money and did less work starting that day. The experience we give our client is usually the best they have ever had. They are amazed that we go the extra yard for them. They LOVE our work. They call us again and again. If I complain about our business, it is most often a personal problem and I am at fault. Not our business. If we are doing something wrong, it is because of us, not the businesses fault.
I would like to hear from you and hear about the things you are doing right vs. not right. this can be a great source for learning from others. Sharing the little things we don't think about is how we build a great business. Thank you.
