Greetings from Florida!

Howdy,

Greetings everyone, I've been a member of the forum for the past month and have been able to learn so much; this place rocks! There is so much information here for our trade. I wanted to introduce myself and ask you seasoned vets some advice.

A little about me, I have a background in air conditioning and like many others in the industry I spent a good part of my youth as a bit of a rolling stone. I have worked as an air conditioning installer, estimator, air balancing technician, painted houses, sold knives, sold shoes, cleaned carpets... the list could go on but I won't bore you guys with all that.

A friend of mine and I started a home maintenance business last year offering home maintenance services on a monthly plan. We felt this would be a great fit, instead of a homeowner having to schedule each service when they felt it necessary, we would design a maintenance plan for them. The idea was great, the implementation... not so much. We mainly ended up pressure washing houses and acting as handymen. As the business began to show its flaws, I made the decision to branch out on my own and focus on the cleaning services. I really enjoy the feeling of satisfaction seeing a dirty house become clean and witness a customer being elated with our work.

I am focusing primarily on window cleaning and pressure washing. I'm not sure if this is the proper place to talk about this, but I figure I'll give it a shot. If I'm posting in the wrong area of the forum, just let me know.

I have completed the initial start-up phase of my business and am looking for some advice/tips. I have only been at this for about two months on my own. I bought as much equipment as I can afford right now, window cleaning equipment, built a new pressure washing trailer, registered the business, got insurance, business cards, shirts, some marketing materials, I still have a dryer vent cleaning set-up so I figured I might as well offer that as an add-on.

Marketing efforts:

Ordered 2500 back to school door hangers with a $159 20 outside window special, and free gutter whitening with house washing

Built website

Going to local networking meetings to meet Realtors, property managers and other business owners.

Starting to use streetbidder

My focus so far has been on residential, but I feel I should also work at getting some storefronts and offices. I've read some threads here about approaching storefronts, what has worked for you?

Also, I am giving some thought to purchasing Joshua Latimers new e-book, "Window Wealth" what are your thoughts on that? It seems like a pretty comprehensive guide, and the forms section would be really helpful as I'm very close to ground zero.

I know this post is kind of all over the place, but I wanted to give you guys something else to read! It's great to be here and I look forward to getting to know everyone! God bless!

P.S. My website is pristine-exteriors.com, I can't post links yet but any advice of what to improve on would be greatly appreciated!
