Question What would you charge? / is it worth my time?

Got a call from a town nearby who wants me to clean the windows on an Old mansion from the 1800s.
Needless to say the windows are very old and a lot of them have old screens on them. I counted about 50 windows total. It looks like it's going to be painstaking work so I want to make sure I bid it right. What do you guys think?

The Little squeegee that could

I have a Liquidator story I wanted to share. I finally got a chance to use my 10" liquidator. I only ordered the 10" because I wanted to test it out before buying larger channels, and at the time it was the only size on hand. Anyway, I was doing a residential job this weekend and decided to give it a try. It took me a few panes to get used to it. But once I did, it never left my hand. In fact I was having so much fun I did an entire house with just a 10" squeegee. Yeah I know, I probably added a little more time to the job. But I really don’t know that I did. The amount of time saved on detailing really helped out. I used an Ettore handle and the rubber that came with the channel. I didn’t like the feel of the Moerman handle. The rubber held up pretty good except the ends were a little worn out. Overall I had a great experience. Now it’s time to order some larger channels.

Quick steel wool question

Anyone out there? On my way to clean some commercial glass at a shopping mall and Lowe's is out of 0000 steel wool. All they have is the 000 grade. Will that scratch the glass? Thanks all!

Question When is it too late to start a business for the season?

Hey guys,

I have moved from debating starting a window cleaning business to what's the next step in actually getting this idea in motion. I am fully committed to this and with A LOT of research, I've realize it can be very profitable and am looking to do it full time and finally start working for myself.

But I have two questions.
1. I live in Utah and today is the last day in May. Is it too late to start my business up for the season with zero customers to start? Also, I don't have a ton of start up costs so I'm looking to do single story store front or residential because I won't have a water fed pole or a ladder. (Or a truck that could carry a ladder) but have the vision to move up to multiple floor residential.

2.There are about 3 decently sized window cleaning companies in the area with a few big ones. But there are literally millions if not more windows in the area and I know there are customers out there so I think there is a realistic idea that I can squeeze myself in for a good slice of the pie. But how much would that really affect my business? And should that be a deterrent?

I am very passionate about becoming self employed and this is the first step in many to own multiple thriving businesses. Any and all help is appreciated. Also my name is Tim and I'm 24

Question curious on winter work.

Hi, im new to posting on here and window cleaning, started helping my dad this year and found to really enjoy the work and using a wfp. Was just kind of curious as to what some of yinz do in the winter, side jobs, save up the cash and relax, etc. Any ideas would be great!
